About this blog

My name is Greg Miller, and I just survived my first year of eating at a university dining hall.

I was a regular at Leo O'Donovan Dining Hall (referred to as "Leo's" by the general studenture or "O'Donovan's Waterfront Bistro" when I was feeling classy) at Georgetown University. While the food is actually not that bad (compared to my brother's run-ins with the dining halls at Marietta College), it still leaves something to be desired. Plus, I love to cook, and especially experiment with cooking, but a 10-meal plan and dorm common rooms don't exactly cater to this passion.

So now I'm back home in Columbus, Ohio, where I once again have a full kitchen which is at my disposal. So now we're cooking!

One note about my cooking style... a lot of times, when deciding what to cook for dinner, I just randomly peruse our pantries and fridge, looking for any combination of foods that may taste good together, or that just need to be used up. Sometimes my ingredient choices may seem random (because they are), but remember that I am now used to college-style cooking, where you throw together any two things that may be laying around your dorm room, or which someone left in the communal fridge, and call it a meal. It worked for me for 9 months, and now I just have a lot more ingredients to throw together.

So I hope you enjoy my blog as much as I enjoy cooking again (and as much as my mother enjoys not having to cook), and hopefully you can enjoy some of my recipes yourself. If you ever have a question about the recipe or my choice of ingredients, feel free to comment! I'm always looking for ways to improve my cooking.
